About the Artist

Nick Arnold is a self-taught artist who tells stories with paint and canvas. Wielding brush and knife to construct worlds of mystery and wonder.

Nick was raised on the island of Kauai and has spent most of his life on this mysterious little rock. He grew to have a deep connection with the mountains and their ancient spirits. He forged this bond through hunting, fishing and exploring the rainforests with family and friends. A deep respect and love for Hawaii has been one of the foundations of Nick's creative expression all his life.

In 2012, after years of working construction and not painting at all, Nick was suddenly reconnected with his forgotten dream. His eyes were opened to a new vision for his future and he rededicated himself to his artwork. He relentlessly continued cultivating his craft any moment he could spare. Often finding the late hours of the night as the best time to create.

This new found enthusiasm inspired the creation of, PAINTED SHIELDS, a unique blend of Nick's love of painting and the power of storytelling. The mission of PAINTED SHIELDS is to use art as Medicine and inspire each one of us to discover, cultivate, and share our passion with the world. 

Over the past decade Nick has establish himself as an emerging artist on Kauai and PAINTED SHIELDS has become the stage and vehicle for him to reach out and touch the world with his art.

Nick's artistic journey has lead him to the new frontier of the Pacific Northwest. Stay tuned and be apart of this new chapter. Currently he living and creating art on Vashon Island in Washington.
